Tantangan dan Solusi Penggunaan Nyanyian Rohani Kontemporer dalam Liturgi GMIT bagi Pertumbuhan Spiritualitas Generasi Z

AbstractThe development of Contemporary Christian Music (CCM) within the Evangelical Christian Church in Timor (GMIT) has become increasingly evident alongside the influence of global musical culture and the characteristics of Generation Z, who live in a digitally mediated world. CCM offers a form of faith expression that is perceived as relevant to the religious experiences of young people; however, its implementation within GMIT’s liturgy presents a range of theological, liturgical, pastoral, and cultural challenges. This article examines these challenges and proposes theological, liturgical, pastoral, and cultural responses by employing the analytical framework of Steve Miller in his book The Contemporary Christian Music Debate: Worldly Compromise or Agent of Renewal?. The aim of this study is to provide an appropriate model for integrating CCM into GMIT’s liturgical practice while supporting the spiritual growth of Generation Z in the contemporary context.
Abstrak
Perkembangan nyanyian rohani kontemporer (Contemporary Christian Music/ CCM) dalam Gereja Masehi Injili di Timor (GMIT) semakin nampak seiring dengan pengaruh budaya musik global dan karakter generasi Z yang hidup dalam dunia digital. CCM menawarkan bentuk ekspresi iman yang dianggap relevan dengan pengalaman religius kaum muda, namun penerapannya dalam liturgi GMIT menghadirkan berbagai tantangan secara teologis, liturgis, pastoral, dan kultural. Artikel ini menguraikan tantangan-tantangan tersebut sekaligus menawarkan solusi teologis, liturgis, pastoral, dan kultural dengan menggunakan kerangka analisis Steve Miller dalam bukunya “The Contemporary Christian Music Debate:Worldly Compromise or Agent of Renewal?” Tujuannya ialah untuk mengintegrasikan CCM secara tepat dalam liturgi GMIT serta mendukung pertumbuhan spiritualitas generasi Z pada masa kini.
